Performer Henny Walters first heard about Pelican Production’s Music Theatre Camp (MTC) at 12 years old when she was working with fellow child performers in the professional children’s ensemble of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang when it toured Adelaide in April 2013. “I liked the idea of spending two weeks with friends who share my love for performing, and I signed up for MTC as soon as I could” she says.
Henny has never looked back. Every January since (minus one where she was performing in another show), Henny has spent two weeks of every January doing what she loves. With the opportunity to play a range of characters in a variety of shows, hone her craft with experienced tutors, and being part of the Pelican community has been a constant highlight.

Henny says “I learn something new every year I do MTC, which only makes me want to improve more by the next year. I always wanted to work on my dance and was equally shocked and excited when I was in the dance troupe last year”. “My favourite MTC was Seize the Day in 2018. Hair and Sister Act were some of my favourite out of all the sets we’ve done, I remember having so much fun. In saying that, there has never been a year I haven’t enjoyed”. |
Now at 19 years old, Brand New Day will be Henny’s last MTC with Pelican. She will be headed to Victoria in 2021 having earned a coveted position at the Victorian College of the Arts to continue her performing arts journey.
Henny has been a talented and much-loved Pelican performer and we wish her all the very best in her future in performing arts. We can’t wait to see what she will achieve.
See Henny onstage in the Broadway cast of Brand New Day, January 9-17, Anzac Hall, Prince Alfred College Theatre.
