Theatre Camp 2012
Music
Theatre Camp creates an environment where
young people can participate in music, acting, dance and
stagecraft, intensive rehearsals and workshops and form
friendships with others of similar ages and interests. Children
are excited and enthralled by the results they can achieve as
they work together towards a common goal.
The
Summer Camp consists of two weeks of rehearsals and workshops
leading up to a high standard, publicly viewed production in a
professional theatre. Children
can choose to audition or enrol for Music Theatre Camp and all children
are accepted to attend the camp. Auditions are both a
learning experience in a low pressure environment and used to
allocate lead and solo singing, dancing and acting roles. Auditions
are held to allocate lead and solo roles and will be conducted
after the school holidays in October.
With
a view to create opportunities for as many children as possible
to perform as soloists in dance, singing or acting, the showcase
performance is carefully constructed with this in mind. The
final performance is a showcase of the high energy and focused
atmosphere the children create and the dedication they show in
striving for excellence.
The
camp is designed for young people aged 8-19 years who have an
interest in Musical Theatre and wish to further their skills and
to learn new ones.
Rehearsals
for the summer camp consist of two weeks of
guidance and leadership in a fun, safe and stimulating
environment. The summer camp culminating in six spectacular performances in a professional theatre.
Workshops
are also an important component of the first week of the camp
with a focus on skill development in singing, dancing and
acting.
The
creative team for each group consists of a director, musical
director and choreographer who are working professional
musicians, actors, dancers or teachers all chosen for their
technical knowledge, personal enthusiasm and their unique
ability to teach young people.
Camp
Pelican - Sleep Over Camp 2012
Camp
Pelican is held at Nunyara Conference Centre in Belair. In
2011, camp participants developed skills in cabaret with
Catherine Campell, acting with Carol Young, song interpretation
with Libby O'Donovan, puppetry with Sue Harris and Broadway
dance with Oliver Toth. Each evening had a programmed
experience including the traditional Camp Pelican quiz night and
'So You Think You're A Star', musically directed and
choreographed by camp participants. Watch this space for

SING!OZ
In
2012 Pelican Productions will host their first and much sought
after adult project. Sing!OZ is for all those who have ever said
"I wish there was something like this when I was
young." Well now there is! Join us weekly for
two and a half hours as we work towards a live performance
accompanied by some of Adelaide's premier musicians, Big Band
style. And here's the best part...NO AUDITION
REQUIRED! Sing!OZ rehearsals will begin in term one 2012
on Thursday evenings 7.00-9.30pm in a central location under the
guidance of experienced vocal director Rosanne Hosking.
The cost to be involved is $300, equating to less than $10 an
hour. Get together a group of friends or be brave and come
on your own, and join us for the inaugural Sing!OZ 2012.
